Step 5: Submit supporting information

As you work through the Application Form you will need to provide supporting information. The Guidance Notes explain each item on the Application Form, why this is important and what information you need to provide.

You cannot get a copy of the Application Form until WMT has assessed your Grants Pre-application form. But we have made a copy of the Guidance Notes available to how you what information you will need.

Depending on your project supporting information required may include:

  • a map showing the location of the war memorial at street level. WMT will need to know where it is; we may undertake a site visit
  • a copy of the owner’s permission to carry out works if you, as the applicant, are not the owner. WMT will need to know that you are authorised to carry out the works you propose
  • copies of documents relating to the history of the war memorial, both written and photographic if available. It is important to understand what has been done to the memorial before to ensure that today we respect choices made by previous custodians
  • copies of documentation relating to permission for the proposed work if applicable. This might include agreement from the owner of the memorial for works (if the owner is not the applicant), Listed Building Consent, Conservation Area Consent, Scheduled Monument Consent, Planning Permission, Faculty or other ecclesiastical permission. Again, you must prove to WMT that you are legally permitted to undertake the works
  • a set of good quality recent colour photographs of the war memorial. WMT cannot visit every war memorial so we will normally base assessments on photographs. If we cannot see a problem we cannot fund it so make sure you give us the best possible chance to help you by providing photographs which clearly show the problems
  • copies of quotes or tenders (depending on the total costs of the project) describing the methods, treatments and products for all the proposed works. The number and requirements will vary depending on your total project cost. See step 3 and step 4 for further information
  • copies of any architectural drawings, surveys, condition reports, specifications or other expert advice, if relevant.  We need to know exactly what is planned - WMT cannot fund vague ideas or suggestions
