Target £3,000
Raised £1,975 - Thank you!

In April 2024, Conservation Officer Andrew McMaster was due to be returning to the streets of London for another go at the London Marathon on behalf of War Memorials Trust. Unfortunately in March that year he broke his ribs.  As a charity runner his place has been deferred so he will recover, reset his training and go again for Sunday 27 February 2025.

Andrew said, “I was extremely disappointed not to head down to London as I enjoyed running the last marathon for the Trust in 2016 so much. I am extremely grateful to everyone who has sponsored me so far and I am very sorry not to be fulfilling my commitment this year. During recent training along the wintry and windy streets, woods and beaches of north-east Scotland, I’d told myself that by the end of April I could hang up my marathon shoes once and for all… alas that’ll have to wait another year! It does however give me more time to reach my fundraising target and to harden myself against the elements!”

In 2016, he completed the course in 3:53:02 so the aim is to remain sub 4 hours on the second attempt. He also raised an amazing £1,977 so we are aiming to top £2,000 this time.

By March 2024, Andrew had secured £1,500 towards the initial £2,000 target. With another 12 months of fundraising opportunities, we felt we could surpass that so the target has been increased to £3,000!
