Volunteer
War Memorials Trust welcomes volunteers to support its work protecting and conserving war memorials in the UK.
Volunteer War Memorials Online Contributors
Anyone can contribute to the website War Memorials Online which is seeking to create a greater understanding of the condition of war memorials in the UK.
Your content is vital. If join over 6,000 people already registered you can make a difference. Ensure your local war memorials are recorded, and get regular condition updates, to help preserve them for future generations.
Register to contribute information or explore the site to find out more about war memorials.
Office Volunteers
The Trust has Office Volunteers who support the work of staff based in the Trust's office in London. We normally ask for a minimum commitment of half a day a week and the activities are computer based so you will need IT skills.
If you would like to find out more about becoming an Office Volunteer, and see if we currently have capacity, please contact info@warmemorials.org or telephone 020 7834 0200.
Work Experience
The Trust can offer work experience opportunities but it must be recognised that there are just two staff in the London office so capacity is limited.
Work experience placements are generally for a minimum of one week but ideally two as this ensures there is time for the student to be trained and complete a project that benefits them and the Trust. Our experience indicates that shorter placements do not provide enough time for both parties to get the most out of the opportunity.
If a student is interested in a work experience placement they should email a CV to info@warmemorials.org with a covering letter which explains
- where they found out about the Trust
- details of their school, year group, an outline of what they are hoping to achieve through their work experience and information on any platforms their school uses to manage work experience
- how long they are seeking a placement for
