This war memorial consists of an ornate World War I cenotaph with a bronze plaque on each face commemorating the fallen soldiers from Earby. It is located in Sough Park. The cenotaph stands on an octagonal plinth and projecting steps, on which are set four stones each containing a bronze plaque dedicated to the fallen of Second World War. The cenotaph is topped by a carved stone interpretation of an eternal flame and on each face is carved
cross decorations and scrolls, above which are lion heads in relief.
In 2013 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £2,500 towards conservation of the memorial. This included cleaning using a DOFF steam cleaning system, removal of previous inappropriate cement mortar and replacement with a hydraulic lime mortar. The bronze plaques were cleaned, selectively re-patinated and waxed using a microcrystalline wax for protection.
The memorial was designed by W A Quarmby of Burnley and built of Portland stone by Smith Brothers of Burnley. It was unveiled at a dedication ceremony held on 8 April 1922. The Second World War plaques were added by F T Fairchild and Son of Barnoldswick and a re-dedication ceremony took place on 9 October 1949.
