Victoria School, Newhaven war memorial © WMT, 2002Victoria Primary school in Edinburgh has a framed war memorial roll of honour carrying the names of those from the School who served in World War I. The paper roll is written in ink on paper with a watercolour background and was mounted on heavy paste/strawboard. Damage had occurred around the edges.

In 2002 War Memorials Trust War Memorials Trust arranged for the conservation of the memorial. The roll of honour was consolidated with refilling of missing areas and retouching as required. It was reframed to conservation standards to ensure maximum protection when rehung. The project cost was £531.10.

When the memorial was rededicated in the school a number of pupils discovered relatives whose names appeared on it. Pupils and their families also contributed to the cost of the conservation works.
