Rolvendon war memorial © WMT, 2006Rolvenden war memorial Latin cross is constructed of Bath stone. It stands on a hexagonal base supported by a plinth on a three-stepped base. The plinth carries lead inscription tablets. The memorial is located in the churchyard on Hastings Road. It is grade II listed.

The memorial has received multiple grants and the summary details of this record relate to the most recent grant.

In November 2000 a grant of £350 was offered towards cleaning of the steps around the memorial. This was required to enable assessment of the necessity of additional works.

In March 2001 a further grant of £5,000 was made towards replacement of some elements of the stone steps. Ham Hill stone was used and blended effectively with the original stone. By phasing the project and cleaning first it was demonstrated that not all the stone needed to be replaced thus retaining a significant amount of the original material.

The memorial was erected in 1924. One inscription panel reads "At the going down of the sun and in the morning we shall remember them" and on the opposite side "1914-1918. To the Glorious dead of Rolvenden. 1939-1945".
