This war memorial is in the form of a brick pointed arch gateway with stone coping. On each side is a plaque inscribed with names which are painted black. In the centre of the arch are a pair of wooden gates.
The gateway is located outside the Methodist Chapel in Thorpe Road, Tattershall Thorpe, Lincolnshire.
The main issues with the memorial were that some of the brickwork and coping was damaged and it generally needed re-pointing. The lettering on the plaques had also become faded. War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £1,007 towards replacing some bricks and the coping. The joints were re-pointed with lime mortar mix and the lettering painted with enamel.
It is not known exactly when the gateway was erected but it was before 1932, as the records show this was when some work was undertaken to the lettering.
The inscription reads:

sacred remembrance of the
men of Tattershall Thorpe

World Wars
Albert Sellars
Albert Toyne
Henry Bosworth
1914-1918
