Kenley Memorial Hall is in the vernacular style, largely made from brick, with black and white ‘Tudor’ style panelling. Inside, the timber roof beams can be seen and the parquet floor has badminton lines marked out. Kenley Memorial Hall © Kenley Memorial Hall Restoration Fund, 2009

The hall is located on Godstone Road in Kenley, London Borough of Croydon.

War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £2,500 towards the replacement of the floor which had become very worn and unusable for functions.

The history of the hall begins in 1919 when a committee of local Floor before replacement © Kenley Memorial Hall Restoration Fund, 2009people formed for the purpose of erecting a war memorial. Sir Charles L. Morgan, a prominent local figure, purchased the land in memory of his eldest son, Lieutenant William Watkins Morgan RNVR. He served in the Hawke Battalion of the Naval Division and died in Gallipoli leading a night assault on the Turkish trenches in 1915.

The hall was opened on 8th April 1922 by Major-General Sir C.E. Pereira K.C.B., C.M.G.
The tablet on the hall is dedicated to 21 local men who died.

The hall was requisitioned between 1940-47 by The War Department, first as an ARP post then as a troop rehabilitation centre. Floor after replacement © Kenley Memorial Hall, 2010
