Llansamlet war memorial plaque © Llansamlet Historical Society, 2006Two war memorial plaques made of marble and slate were held in Ebenezer Chapel in Llansamlet which was built in 1882. The building was sold and due for demolition. The Llansamlet Historical Society sought to ensure these memorials were not lost. They arranged for the memorials to be moved to Carmel Chapel, Pentredwr nearby.

War Memorials Trust contributed £460 in 2006 to the project to relocate the war memorials. This included their removal, transportation and re-hanging by professionals. In addition the opportunity was also taken to clean the memorials and re-paint some of the fading lettering. When the memorials were relocated a small plaque was added close by recording the work done in 2006 to move them. The memorials were rededicated on 12th November 2006.

Llansamlet war memorial plaque © Llansamlet Historical Society, 2006The monumental masons responsible for creating the plaques were Deans of Morriston following the First World War and J. Cecil Jones of Swansea after the Second World War. J Cecil Jones and Son of Swansea, now run by the son of the mason who created the second memorial undertook the work in 2006 to move the memorials.
