The war memorial in the north Warwickshire village of Ansley is made of Portland stone and consists of a cross on a pillar on a plinth, which stands on a three-stepped base. The whole structure stands on a square base raised above the ground, topped with concrete and faced in Hollington sandstone. The memorial stands at the junction of Birmingham Road and Nuneaton Road.
In 2008/9 English Heritage and the Wolfson Foundation offered £1,300 towards work on the base of the memorial, namely raking out the old cement joints of the Hollington sandstone wall and re-pointing them, and inserting new Hollington sandstone pieces where necessary. The remaining stones were cleaned, and the top of the concrete base repaired with a thicker layer of lime-based concrete.
The land was granted to the parish council by the Ansley Hall Coal and Iron Company on 21st August 1920. The memorial was dedicated on 21st August 1921 by the Dr. Charles Lise-Carr, Bishop of Coventry. Originally two artillery guns stood either side of the memorial, but they were removed for scrap in World War II.
