Hanborough war memorial before work © WMT, 2008Hanborough war memorial cross is constructed of grey Cornish granite. The simple latin cross atop the tapered shaft stands on a plinth supported by a three-stepped base. The memorial is sited on the main road in the village.

In 2006, War Memorials Trust gave £1,000 towards hard and soft landscaping works which included the erection of a access ramp to enable people to access the war memorial, cleaning with water and soft bristle brushes, re-painting the lettering and repairing the damaged stonework.

The war memorial was built in 1919 by Messrs. Knowles and Co. of Oxford funded by public subscription. It lists the names of 30 men who died in the First World War and 13 who lost their lives in the Second World War.
