Gaddesby obelisk before © Gaddesby PC, 2008This war memorial is a granite obelisk in the south-west corner of St Luke’s Church in Gaddesby, Leicestershire.

War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £215 to clean the memorial with water and bristle brushes. The defective joints were repointed with lime mortar and the letter re-painted in white.

The memorial was designed by George Collin & Son and was unveiled around 1920. It is dedicated to those who fell in World War I and II.

The inscription reads:

To the
glory of God
and in
grateful
memory
of the men of
Gaddesby
who laid down Gaddesby obelisk after © Gaddesby PC, 2009
their lives in the
Great War
1914 -1918

And those
who laid down
their lives in
