Inkermann Crimea war memorial plaque, Churchstanton © Churchstanton PC 2005The memorial tablet to Cpl. James Doble who fell at the battle of Inkermann in the Crimea, is found in the parish church in the village of Churchstanton, which lies on the Somerset-Devon border. The memorial is made of a rectangular piece of white marble with the top rising to a low Gothic arch. It has incised letters which are painted red and black and a black painted surround.

In January 2006 War Memorials Trust made a grant of £110 towards work to restore the lettering and to clean the memorial.

The inscription on the memorial reads
