West Tytherley war memorial obelisk stands nearly 5 metres high. A five stepped base supports a plinth and tapering obelisk. The inscription on the memorial is recorded on the plinth and top step. The memorial is located next to the village school.
In 1998 the Parish Council discussed the position of the war memorial with the local community. Concerns were raised about the surroundings of the memorial including a broken fence, deteriorating pathway, oberhanging hedges and greenery detracting from the memorial. War Memorials Trust gave £200.00 towards the cost of removing the front hedge, cutting back other hedges, laying a new path, renewing the fence and replanting the grass.
In 2017 a Grant Offer of £1,800 was made towards conservation and repair works to the memorial to clean the stonework using natural bristle brushes and low pressure water. In addition, loose and failing mortar was raked-out from the memorial’s construction joints which were repointed using a lime mortar. The lettering was repainted using an appropriate oil based paint to match the original design of the memorial.
The memorial as unveiled on 2nd April 1921.
The inscription on the memorial reads:

to almighty God, who gave us the victory.
