Cromer war memorial stands in the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul on Church Street. The memorial is constructed of Clipsham stone. A five stepped base has the inscription inscribed on the top level and the names of the Fallen on the second and third levels. The base is square with carvings of servicemen in niches on each face - a soldier, sailor and Red Cross nurse are represented. A cluster of slender columns forms the shaft of the cross at the base of which a niche holds a carved figure of St George and the dragon. The shaft supports a gabled head with a figure of Christ crucified carved in relief on the front.
In 2003 a grant offer of £500 was made towards conservation work on the war memorial through the Small Grants Scheme. Works included repairs to the stone, repointing joints, re-cuttering some lettering and cleaning.
The memorial was designed by W D Caroe of Great College Street, London in around 1919. It cost £6-700 to erect. In 1919 a faculty was obtained to enable the memorial to be erected in the Churchyard although papers from the time reveal local debate about the appropriateness of the design was vigorous.
