Walford's World War I war memorial stands at the entrance to St Michael and All Angels Churchyard. The grade II listed Seaton stone obelisk features a sculpture of St George and the Dragon. Inscriptions are found on the front and back of the memorial and tablets carry the names of those commemorated.
In 2003, the Small Grants Scheme provided £250 towards repair and conservation works to the stone and minor cleaning.
In 2016, a grant of £3,600 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards cleaning the memorial using brushes, water and steam to improve legibility of the inscriptions and repointing in lime mortar.
The memorial was designed by Bodley & Hare and built by Gilbert Boulton & Son of Cheltenham. It was dedicated in 1925. In 1946/47 two slate tablets were added with the names of those who fell in the First and Second World Wars. In 1979/80 a crash barrier was placed in front of the memorial for its protection.
Nearby two gateposts and a pair of iron entrance gates added later to remember those who fell in World War II. There is also an Avenue of Remembrance with a tree planted for everyone who fell during World War I. Each tree has a plaque which records the name of the individual and these are the names found upon the obelisk War Memorial.
