St Mary and St Eanswyth Church war memorial is an oak built shrine, containing a calvary, with a tiled roof and a quarry tiled floor. Originally, the bronze calvary was fixed to a wooden cross with a metal plaque carrying the names. Around 1987, the cross became unstable so the figure of Christ and the metal plaque were removed and relocated within the church leaving the shrine and cross. They are located at the northern entrance to the churchyard on Church Street, Priory Gardens, Folkestone. The memorial is within the curtilage of the Grade II* listed church and in Folkestone Old Town Conservation Area. The memorial is within one of the 14% most deprived neighbourhoods in England based on 2025 data.
In 2023, £3,990 was awarded through from Grants for War Memorials scheme supported by Historic England. It assisted an extensive set of works to restabilise the timber structure. This included scarfing on new bases to all four corner posts and replacing the Portland stone blocks that they sat on. The were also a number of missing or damaged tiles from both the roof and the quarry tile floor that required replacement.
The memorial was dedicated on 31st October 1917 and was paid for by public subscription. Originally, only 39 names were listed with a further 11 being added in 1922.
The inscription on the memorial reads:
PARISH CHURCH FOLKESTONE
TO THE GLORY OF GOD
