Bourton-on-the-Water war memorial is a tall stone Latin cross on a tapering octagonal shaft. The plinth has metal plaques with the names of the fallen from both of the World Wars. It is located on the village green beside the River Windrush. The memorial is grade II listed and in the Bourton-on-the-Water conservation area.

In 2023, a grant of £280 was awarded through the Grants for War Memorials scheme, supported by Historic England. It assisted repair and conservation works which included the repair of damaged areas of stone on the steps. Two sections of defective stone were cut out and replaced using Guiting Cream stone, sourced from Guiting Quarry in Temple Guiting, for the indent repairs. It was shaped to match the existing profile of the stone and was laid on a lime mortar mix of 3 parts stone dust, 1 part soft sand and 1 part hydraulic lime. SmartWater was also applied to the metal plaques on the war memorial as part of the In Memoriam 2014 project seeking to deter the theft metal from war memorials.

The inscription on the memorial reads:

"Those of this village
who made the sacrifice
for peace.

Sons of this place let
this of you be said,
that you who live are
worthy of the dead,
these gave their lies that
you who live may reap
a richer harvest ere
you fall asleep."
