St Luke's Manningham WWI war memorial comprises a stone Latin cross "Potent" with a metal sword in relief on its front and with chamfered block footing set on a chamfered topped, hexagonal plinth with dedication in incised lettering all standing on a 3 stepped hexagonal base. The memorial is constructed of Bolton Wood sandstone. The chamfered capstones of the parapet wall are engraved. The memorial stands in a semi-circular paved recess, with radiating flags, enclosed to the rear by a railed semi-circular parapet wall and two piers connecting to the churchyard wall. Manningham War Memorial forms part of the churchyard wall to the north-east of the Grade II-listed Church of St Luke which is now a mosque.
In 2023 this memorial received a War Memorials Trust grant of £1,590 through Grants for War Memorials scheme supported by Historic England. The memorial was cleaned using a specialist steam cleaning system. The construction joints were carefully raked out to remove loose and flaking mortar and then re-pointed using a lime mortar.
The memorial was designed by T H & F Healey of Bradford (1863-1932), who also designed the church itself, and it was unveiled by Colonel R Clough of the Sixth West Yorkshire Regiment on 26 February 1921; it was dedicated by Dr Perowne, Bishop of Bradford.
The inscription reads: To the Glory of God
Note: wooden panels listing the names of the parishioners who died in WW1 were moved to St.Paul's Church Manningham in 1983, when St.Luke's closed as a Church of England church.
