Little Oakley war memorial comprises a rough-hewn granite framed cross (square Celtic cross) mounted on a tapered granite block or plinth with a separate angled granite wedge at ground level detailing the history and relocation of the memorial, set on a square concrete base which is set in grass of a public greensward. The front and rear faces of the plinth are recessed and smooth and bear the incised, black-painted inscriptions. The memorial is dedicated to and carries the names of the 8 local men who died in World War I with 5 names added after World War II. The memorial was originally located at the Church of St Mary’s Church in Little Oakley, where it was dedicated on 21st March 1920. When St Mary's Church closed, the memorial was relocated to Little Oakley Methodist Chapel in November 1981 and following the closure of that chapel it was relocated to Little Oakley Memorial Hall in November 2004. In October 2012 the memorial was relocated to its present location on a green in Little Oakley.

In 2022, conservation and repair works were carried out with a grant of £380 from War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme. The memorial was hand-cleaned with water using natural bristle brushes. The incised lettering was re-painted to match the original design and thereby improve legibility.
