Peterhead World War II war memorial comprises two gate piers forming part of the entrance gates to cemetery opposite the WWI war memorial. The two four-sided columns are set on a low dias with low wall to the rear and sides. Steps are set into the centre of the rear wall to allow access to the area of cemetery behind the memorial. Inscription in black lettering on panels set into the front face and inner face of each pier. Fouled anchor set within a lifebelt and flanked by the war dates is incised at the top of the front face of the left hand column and inner face of the right hand column. Lion on shield surrounded by thistles and surmounted by a laurel wreath and garland is carved in relief at the top of the front face of the right hand column and inner side of the left hand column.
In 2022, conservation and repair works were carried out with a grant of £1,260 from War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme. The memorial was cleaned using a DOFF steam cleaning system. Following cleaning, the incised lettering was repainted to match the original design. The memorial’s construction joints were carefully raked-out and re-pointed using a lime mortar.
