The Grade II listed Hendon war memorial is located on a large paved area on Watford Way. It commemorates the fallen from both World Wars and is a cross set on an octagonal plinth with a raised sword engraved on the shaft. There are bronze plaques on four of the eight faces of the plinth.

In 2021 a grant of £3770 was awarded through the Grants for War Memorials scheme, supported by Historic England. The grant was to support works to steam clean the stonework, re-pointing the joints of the memorial with lime mortar, undertake stone repairs where cracking had occured and conservation works to the bronze plaques. As part of the project SmartWater was applied to the bronze plaques as part of the In Memoriam 2014 project to protect the memorial from the risk of metal theft.

On completion of the project there was a slight reduction in the over all costs, as such the final grant awarded was £3070. The represented 50% of the eligible project costs.

The memorial was designed by Mr George Hornblower, FRIBA and was unveiled on 23rd April 1922. A memorial stone was added to the south side of the memorial following the end of the Second World War. The memorial was originally located near St Josephs Convent but was relocated in 1969 due to a road-widening scheme.
