The Llandudno war memorial comprises a stepped base surmounted by plinth, rusticated granite obelisk surmounted by a golden orb finial, with flame cresting. The memorial carries bronze plaques placed on each side of the base of the obelisk and on the plinth. The memorial is flanked to the north-west and south-east by partly chained strips of ground. This is set out with low slender bollards of granite and with contemporary lamp standards with wide fluted circular shafts and moulded bases. Each shaft is surmounted by multi ball lamp finials of glass.
In 2021, conservation and repair works were carried out with a grant of £11,540 from War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme. The memorial was cleaned using a DOFF steam cleaning system. The memorial had previously been pointed using a cement mortar which had caused the retention of moisture in the structure. Construction joints were carefully raked-out and re-pointed using a lime mortar. The lost bollard chain was reinstated to the original design and following paint sampling, the orb finial and cresting was re-gilded with gold leaf.
Llandudno war memorial is a Grade II listed monument designed by Sidney Colwyn Foulkes. The memorial was completed in 1922 to commemorate those who died in World War I. There are 212 names from World War I with 122 names added following World War II.
