Waltham war memorial comprises a wheel cross of limestone construction surmounting a tiered plinth and two-stepped base. The cross is ornately carved including the words ‘Faith', 'Hope', and 'Glory' inscribed in relief in arms of cross. The cross shaft depicts a figure of Christ surmounting soldiers' grave. The plinth carries incised inscriptions on all faces. The memorial is located on a green on Cheapside, at the crossroads of routes to Barnoldby-le-Beck, Brigsley, Holton-le-Clay and Waltham village. The memorial was erected in 1920 by public subscription to the 16 local Fallen of World War I and 8 Fallen of World War II.
In 2021, a grant of £740 was awarded through Grants for War Memorials towards conservation and repair works to the memorial. The memorial was hand-cleaned with water using natural bristle brushes. The construction joints were carefully raked out to remove loose and flaking mortar and then re-pointed using a lime mortar.
The inscription reads:
FAITH/ HOPE/ GLORY; 1914-1918 For God For King For Country; to The Glorious Memory of The Men of Waltham Who Died and in Recognition of The Self-Sacrifice of All Who Fought in The Great War
