This memorial comprises an arched wall monument altarpiece-like structure with three name bronze plaques. Two steps in front form a wreath platform, a circular relief in the top of the arch depicts St Michael slaying the devil and is memorial is surmounted by a small cross. The war memorial commemorates service personnel from Linlithgow and the surrounding area who lost their lives in both World Wars. The memorial is located inside St Michael's Church in Linlithgow.

In 2019 this war memorial received a grant of £13,375 towards conservation works from War Memorials Trust. The fixings of the First World War bronze plaques had corroded, cracking the stonework and compromising the memorial structurally. The fixings were renewed in stainless steel to prevent future corrosion, the bronze plaques were carefully cleaned and the damaged stonework was carefully cut out and stone indents were created to replace the damaged areas. This method ensures maximum retention of original fabric whilst addressing the concerns of the custodians in relation to the damage.

The inscription reads:

To The Glory Of Him Who Died/ For All And In Memory Of Those/ Who Gave Their Lives In The Great/ War MCMXIV - MCMXIX/ (Names)/ Greater Love Hath No Man Than This/ That A Man Lay Down His Life For His Friends
