Grove war memorial is situated on Main Street in Grove, Retford. The memorial comprises a floral-type cross on capped octagonal stem resting on octagonal plinth, with an incised dedication, names and base. The cross is set on top of a small hill, accessed by two flights of stone steps.
In 2019, a grant of £680 was offered through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards a condition survey and report with recommendations to inform necessary conservation and repair works. The report was undertaken by a conservation-accredited Architect and Surveyor.
In 2022 this memorial received a War Memorials Trust grant of £2,080 from War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme supported by voluntary donations. The memorial was cleaned using a specialist steam cleaning system. The construction joints were carefully raked out to remove loose and flaking mortar and then re-pointed using a lime mortar. The access paving steps were lifted, and a sub-base formed to stabilise them.
