St Andrew's church in Gatton has a World War I war memorial lychgate. The oak timber structure has a shingled roof with a gate giving access to the churchyard. The names of the fallen are carved into the internal beams. The lychgate is in the grounds of the Grade I listed church within Gatton Park conservation area.
In 2018, War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme, supported by the First World War Memorials Programme, provided a grant of £3,250 for repair and conservation works. The roof shingles were replaced to match the original design with the lead ridges re-used. Some of the timber of the lychgate was replaced and missing timber from the gate panel reinstated to match the original design. An appropriate, traditional treatment was applied to the timber to help its preservation.
The memorial was dedicated on 17th November 1921 with the Bishop of Southwark and Brigadier General J S Ollifant leading the service. It was designed by W P Forsyth.
