Evanton war memorial cross is sited on Balconie Street at the junction of Drummond Road. It stands within a grassed areas with a set of steps leading up to the wheel cross with a celtic pattern. The front of the shaft carries a dedication to the fallen of World Wars I and II. Names are located on panels around the plinth.
In 2018, a Centenary Memorials Restoration Fund grant of £5,540, supported by Historic Environment Scotland and the Scottish government supported repair and conservation works. This included cleaning of the stonework using wooden spatulas to address the organic growth whilst natural bristle brushes and low pressure water dealt with the pollutants and surface dirt. The pointing was removed and the memorial re-pointed with lime mortar. The failed concrete surface on the raised platform was removal and new laid whilst works were also done to replace two ferrous drain pipes with copper ones. A missing T on the inscription was replaced to exactly match the material, font and size of the existing lettering and the lettering repainted. The metal elements were protected with SmartWater as part of the In Memoriam 2014 initiative.
The memorial was unveiled on Thursday 13th September 1928 by Major General Sir William Thomson. The Committee which oversaw the war memorial was chaired by Major Hector Munro Ferguson.
The ruined church of Kiltearn is near Evanton. The original war memorial unveiling programme refers to it as Kiltearn war memorial.
