The Grade II listed Shepton Mallet memorial cenotaph is located on the High Street, Shepton Mallet. The cenotaph is constructed of Portland stone with detail to the upper section including a carved stone wreath. There is a large bronze plaque to the Fallen of the First World War on one face with a smaller bronze plaque below to the fallen of the Second World War.

In 2017 a grant of £1,440 was awarded through the War Memorials Trust Grants scheme for a project to repoint the memorial using lime mortar and works to the bronze plaques. The works to the bronze plaques consisted of cleaning the plaques using a super-heated steam cleaning system followed by the application of a protective microcrystalline wax. The wax acts as a superficial layer and helps to protect the bronze from corrosion. Following the completion of the work an application to the In Memoriam 2014 project was made and SmartWater forensic fluid was applied to help protect the memorial plaques from theft.

The memorial was designed by a Bristol architect, C F W Denning and carved by Lewis Smallcorn of Bath. The memorial was erected in 1920.
