Baldernock war memorial after work ©East Dunbartonshire Council, 2018 The war memorial consists of rough dressed granite Celtic cross standing on a small plinth. Inset into the base are two polished granite plaques (the original bronze plaques were stolen). The memorial is located on a small grass island off Craigmaddie Road immediately adjacent to Baldernock Parish Church.

In 2017 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £1,660 for conservation and repair works. The memorial had a build-up of soiling and this along with a deteriorating paint finish was making the inscription more difficult to read. In addition the memorial had a number of cracked constructions. The grant funding has assisted with works to clean the memorial, repair and re-paint the lettering as well as re-pointing with a lime mortar.

The cost of constructing the memorial was £200. It was unveiled on 28th September 1921. Following the Second World War five additional names were added to the memorial.
