This Crimean war memorial comprises an obelisk on a square base, surmounting an eared sarcophagus on a two-stage base. Wreaths to each face of the obelisk above inscriptions. Incised on one side is a list of local men who died in the Crimea.

In 2016 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £2,930 towards conservation works to clean the memorial using a combination of cleaning by hand using natural bristle brushes, and steam cleaning using a DOFF cleaning system. Loose pointing mortar from the construction joints was raked out and joints were re-pointed using a lime mortar. Damaged stonework was repaired using a lime mortar to restore the profile of the original design.

Based on a design in Pere Lachaise cemetery, Paris and constructed of Pennant Stone the memorial is by Samuel Rogers of Widcombe. The memorial was unveiled by the Mayor of Bath on 29th May 1856. The monument cost £57/10/- and the lettering a further £4/12/6.

The inscriptions read:

Bomarsund, Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, Sweaborg, Tchernaya, Sebastopol

Erected By The Citizens Of Bath In Honour, Under God, Of Those Heroic Men, Especially Their Fellow Citizens And Friends Here Recorded, Who Laid Down Their Lives In The Campaigns Of 1854-5, So Triumphantly Achieved For The Liberties Of Europe. `There Is A Time To Die', Eccl. Iii 2 V. On The Reverse Is The Word `Kars' Over The Name Of General Richard Debauffe Guyon
