Lumphinnans war memorial after work © Fife Council, 2018The war memorial consists of a freestanding square pillar surmounted by a Latin cross. Inset into three elevation are stone tablets with inscriptions/rolls of honour. The memorial is raised on a stepped base and is surrounded by a low level railings.

In 2017 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £1,350 for conservation and repair works. The memorial required significant re-pointing and some of the steps of the base had suffered from movement. Some of the inscriptions on the central column had lost their legibility. The grant funding will supported works to address failed pointing which was picked out and the joints re-pointed with a lime mortar. The steps were re-aligned and faded lettering was painted using black enamel paint.

Unfortunately little is known about the history of the memorial

The inscription on the plinth of the memorial reads:

1914-19
to
the glory of God
and
in memory of the men
of
Lumphinnians
who fell in the
Great War
and
the World War
1939-45
