The British Korean Veterans memorial stands in Sir Peter Hilton Gardens, Corporation Street, Derby. It is an angled stone block with polished front and upper faces standing on a stone-topped brick pillar. There are inscriptions on the polished faces of the memorial.
In June 2004 War Memorials Trust gave £220 towards cleaning the memorial, and reapplying gilding and paint. The memorial had been subjected to vandalism.
On the top surface of the memorial is the inscription:
"In memory of those
who gave their lives
in the Korean war"
There is then the British Korean Veterans Association symbol incorporating the blue and red circle from the South Korean flag, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Either side of it are inscribed the dates 1950 and 1953 and above it and below it the words British Korean Veterans. Below these inscriptions are the words:
"Not one of them is forgotten
before God"
On the front face of the memorial are the words:
"Derby and Buxton Branch"
The memorial was constructed in July 2003 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ceasefire.
