Irthlingborough war memorial is located on Finedon Road, Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire. This memorial is in the form of a stone two stepped octagonal base surmounted by a plinth, round sectional Classical column, stone ball finial with stylised metal cross and coat of arms. The inscriptions on slate panels, probably added later, incised and painted commemorate those who died in World War I and II. The memorial is Grade II listed.
In 2016 a grant of £7,320 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards gentle steam cleaning to improve the legibility of the inscription, lime mortar pointing, relaying the paving and removal of bollards to enable better access, the metal cross and coat of arms was painted and gilded to match the original design. The metal elements of the memorial were also protected with SmartWater as one of the conditions of the grant. The grant paid was reduced by 10% to £6,590 as there was a deviation from the contract as the inscription letters were painted a different colour to the original scheme.
The memorial was commissioned by a War Memorial Committee and was unveiled on 13th November 1921 by Mrs V. Ripley and dedicated by Rev W. Frith. The joint secretary of the Fund Raising Committee, Mr H. Perkins, presented it to the town. Mr E. Barker JP Chairman of the Urban District Council, received it on behalf of the Town Council.
