Riding Mill war memorial plaque cBroomhaugh and Riding Parish Council, 2016Riding Mill war memorial was formerly located in the entrance of the old village school which was converted to residential use (then kept in storage) and in future will be relocated to Riding Mill Parish Hall, Riding Mill, Northumberland. This memorial is in the form of a Roll of Honour, a timber plaque with a bronze decorative moulded border. The inscription painted in black commemorates those scholars who died in World War I.

In 2016 a grant of £3,270 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards gentle cleaning to improve the legibility of the inscription, treatment for woodworm, repair of the broken bronze decorative moulding, touching up of the painted inscription, treatment with wax for protection. The metal elements of the memorial were also protected with SmartWater as one of the conditions of the grant.
