WM1296 Preston Candover after works © Preston Candover Parish Council, 2017Preston Candover war memorial is located on the village green. It is constructed of limestone and comprises a cross with tapering shaft which surmounts a square plinth on a three-stepped octagonal base. Bronze plaques are mounted on two sides of the square plinth and bear names and inscription. A bronze sword of sacrifice is mounted on the head of the cross.

In 2017, a grant of £2,970 was offered from War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme supported by the First World War Memorials Programme and donations to the charity. Works included steam cleaning, re-pointing the construction joints with lime mortar while stone indent repairs were carried out to match the original existing stone. The bronzework was also cleaned using steam cleaning and a protective wax was applied.
