St Peter's Parish, Bristol © Rob Harding 2015 St Peter's Parish war memorial is located in the south porch at St James Priory Church, Whitson Street, Bristol. The memorial commemorates all those who fell during World War I. The memorial is of unusual design resembling a window with a stepped base, quatrefoil panels and two inscription panels bearing 23 names. The names are flanked by square pilasters with crocketed finials. At the centre is a cross-shaped mullion bearing the dedication above which is a crucifix with four rosettes.

In 2017 a grant of £120 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme, supported by First World War Memorials Programme, towards a full condition survey and report with recommendations to inform necessary conservation and repair works which was undertaken by a conservation-accredited conservator. This is anticipated to lead to a further grant application to enable works to be completed.

The memorial originally stood at St Peter’s Church in Bristol after being unveiled at a service on 19th December 1920. The memorial was rescued from the ruins of St Peter's Church following its destruction in the Bristol Blitz in November 1940. The memorial is thought to have stood in the roofless church until November 1959 when the St Peter’s and St James’ Parishes united and the memorial was re-erected in the south porch at St James Priory.

In 2018 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £1,540 towards the undertaking of the conservation works recommended as part of the 2017 Professional Advice Grant. The memorial was cleaned using natural bristle brushes and water. To reduce the salt-penetration of the sinister base area, the narrow band of render was removed and replaced in a porous lime putty mortar to help to draw the salts preferentially away from the stone. The damaged base of the memorial and the column were then repaired in a hydraulic lime mortar to match the original design. The construction joints were repointed with a lime mortar.
