Barford war memorial is located at St Botolph’s Church on Church Lane in Barford, Norwich, Norfolk. The memorial is a grey Cornish granite wheel cross on a tapering square plinth. The raised lead lettering inscription on the plinth commemorates those who died in World War I and II. The memorial is listed by virtue of being located within the curtilage of the Grade II* listed church.
In 2015 a grant of £680 was offered through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme, supported by First World War Memorials Programme, towards steam cleaning to improve the legibility of the inscription. Some of the construction joints were re-pointed with lime mortar. In addition, where needed the lead letters were re-painted in-line with historic evidence to match the existing. Finally, as part of the In Memoriam 2014 initiative the application of SmartWater to metal elements to deter theft was confirmed.
The memorial sculptor was C Mailes & Son of Sutton Road in London.
