Cherry Willingham war memorial lychgate cCherry Willingham Parish Council, 2014Cherry Willingham war memorial is located at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Church Lane, Cherry Willingham, Lincolnshire. This memorial is in the form of a pair of timber lych gates on the path towards the church. There are two bronze plaques on the gates commemorating those who died in World War I and World War II. The gates are listed by virtue of being in the curtilage of the Grade I listed church.

In 2015 a grant of £580 was awarded through the War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards cleaning to reveal the extent of the affected rotten timber, repairs with seasoned oak using traditional joints, treatment of timber gates and posts and re-use and treatment of iron hinges and plaques which were protected with SmartWater.

The memorial gates were unveiled on 17th April 1922 by Major Herbert Newsum of the Lincolnshire Regiment and dedicated by Canon Vines (Vicar of Fiskerton). The two plaques were removed for safety reasons in 1969, cleaned and mounted by Nettleham and District Branch of the British Legion and placed in the church above the door. The gates were repaired in 1974 but then replaced after 1975 supplied by Wm Wright & Son builders, and the work done by J Bailey. The plaques were copied and the replacements affixed to the new gates. The gates were also refurbished in 2013.
