The Grade II listed Whitefield war memorial is located in an open paved area within the grounds of All Saints Church which is delineated by two low stone curving walls with piers and iron gates. The memorial consists of a Portland stone column which rises from curved plinth stones and is surmounted by a bronze winged figure. The figure holds a laurel wreath and stands upon a coiled serpent.
Around the top of the stone column are bronze wreaths on two sides and bronze swags on the other two sides. The names of the fallen are listed on two bronze plaques and there are incised dedications on the stone panels.
In 2014 an application was received to the Grants for War Memorials to undertake a conservation project with a total cost of £55,885. A grant of £26,185 was awarded towards the eligible costs of the project.
The eligible works consisted of the cleaning and redecorating the iron gates, stone repair and cleaning to the limestone column and to clean the bronze using soft non-metallic brushes and water followed by the application of a protective micro-crystalline wax.
The land for the memorial was provided in 1919 by Charles Cornall. It was provide as part of a condition to extending the churchyard. A Committee was set up, to raise funds for the memorial and in 1920, they purchased a further 8 acres of land which was given in part to the cricket club with the rest forming Hamiliton Road Park.
The war memorial was designed by Vernon March, who also designed the National War Memorial of Canada in Ottawa. It was unveiled by Lord Derby in February, 1921.
