Apethorpe war memorial has an octagonal four-stepped base, upon which sits a square plinth and a shaft topped with a cross. The memorial stands at around 5.25 metres high and is made from local limestone, with sandstone steps. The memorial lists the names of the men that fought and died in the First World War, along with commemorative inscriptions. Apethorpe memorial is located opposite the Church of St Leonard on Main Street, Apethorpe, Northamptonshire, within the Conservation Area of Apethorpe.
In 2014 a grant of £3,510 was offered through the Grants for War Memorials scheme towards cleaning and repair work.
The memorial was cleaned using water and brushes, followed by high pressure steam cleaning. Re-pointing was undertaken where necessary using a lime-based mortar. Five stones on the steps that were beyond repair were replaced with a similar sandstone.
The memorial was built and donated to the village in 1920 by Lady Violet Brassey of Apethorpe Hall in memory of her two sons who were killed during the First World War.
