Colonel John Cameron memorial © Lochaber Local History Society, 2015The memorial consists of a large freestanding stone obelisk which is located on raised ground and surrounded by an ironwork fence. The memorial is located in near to Parish of Kilmallie Church, Corpach and is visible from the A830.

In 2014 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £14,240 for repair and conservation work. The construction joints on the memorial obelisk are cracked or are missing, which meant that water was getting into the memorial. The commemorative marble was in particularly poor condition, the surface of the stone had starting to flake, and the incised inscription is difficult to read the paint finish has been largely lost and biological growth is Colonel John Cameron memorial plaque after cleaning © Lochaber Local History Society, 2015obscuring some letters. To address these issues cracked construction on the memorials obelisk joints were remove and re-point with a lime mortar. In addition the commemorative marble plaque was lightly cleaned, repaired and the inscription was re-painting in order that is could be easily read.

Little is known about memorial, which commemorates Colonel John Cameron, who was killed at the battle of Waterloo, expect that it was erected in 1816 at the reported cost of £1,400.
