All Hallows Church bells war memorial after cleaning and repair work © All Hallows Church, 2015The war memorial bells are located in the bell tower of the Grade II listed All Hallows church, situated on All Hallows Road, Bispham, Blackpool. The memorial consists of six bells, along with a dedicatory grey marble plaque under the bell tower. The bells commemorate those that fell in the First World War.

In 2013 a grant of £2,500 was offered through the Small Grants Scheme towards cleaning and conservation. The bells, fittings and frame were removed from the tower for work to be undertaken. All Hallows Church bells war memorial before cleaning and repair work © All Hallows Church, 2013 The foundation beams had weakened with rust and have been replaced, along with other seriously corroded parts of the bell frame. The frame has been cleaned, galvanised and painted and new wheels have been made in ash, elm and oak. The headstocks have been re-cast and secured to the bells and the clappers have been replaced. The bells have been cleaned and re-tuned and have been re-installed in the belfry along with the bell frame, with new ropes supplied.

Six bells were erected as a memorial following the First World War and were dedicated on 16th June 1920 by the Rev’d Canon Leighton M.A. Rector. Two further bells were added to make up the octave in 1921. Mears and Stainbank bell founders installed the bells.
