Garstang war memorial is a freestanding central brick wall, with lower flanking walls either side. The central wall features two granite plaques to commemorate the First and Second World Wars. The inscription is raised lead lettering and lists the names of the men that fought and died, along with commemorative inscriptions.
The memorial is located at the junction of Park Hill Road and Croston Road, in Garstang, Preston and is situated within the Garstang Conservation Area.
In 2014 a grant of £2,500 was offered through the Small Grants Scheme to address structural issues of the flanking wall on the west side of the memorial. This wall was dismantled, retaining the original material for re-use where possible. New concrete foundations were laid and the wall was rebuilt to match the original. Defective joints across the whole memorial were re-pointed.
After the First World War a granite plaque to commemorate those that lost their lives was built into the wall of the Market House next to the Town Hall. A similar plaque was created following the Second World War, but there was an issue of where this should be sited and the decision was made to create a new memorial. A site in the grounds of the Oddfellows Hall was made available by the Adelaide and Castle Lodges of the Order of Oddfellows and the memorial was built and dedicated in 1952. The Adelaide and Castle Lodges gifted the site to the Town Council and people of Garstang in 1987.
