Broadstairs war memorial after work © Holy Trinity Church, 2015Broadstairs war memorial is situated on the external wall of Holy Trinity Church in Broadstairs, Thanet. The memorial is a calvery with a wooden cross and cast metal figure of Christ, topped with an oak canopy. Bronze plaques either side of the calvery list the names of the men that fought and died during the First World War and a bronze plaque below the memorial features a general commemorative inscription.

In 2014 a grant of £2,500 was offered through the Small Grants Scheme towards cleaning and conservation work. The timber cross was cleaned using non-metallic bristle brushes and water and Broadstairs memorial before work © Holy Trinity Church, 2014treated with a Danish oil. The figure was cleaned using low pressure steam cleaning and a paint softener was applied. The figure was re-patinated with an ammonium polysulphide solution and protected with microcrystalline wax. The bronze plaques were cleaned in the same way and new oak shingles were fixed onto the canopy where necessary.

Broadstairs war memorial after work © Holy Trinity Church, 2015A sum of money for a memorial was given to the Rector by Captain and Mrs Pugh in 1919. The figure was erected in 1919, with the plaques added the following year. The cost of the memorial was £67 3s for the crucifix and £15 for the bronze plaques, but by 1920 the subscriptions had already raised £89 13s.
