Barnton war memorial original site © The Sir John Brunner Trust, 2004Barnton war memorial granite plaque was located on the outside of Barton memorial hall on Lydyett Lane. Formerly a school it became Barton memorial hall in 1964. It is now part of a specially constructed plinth sited in a paved area at Jubilee Corner junction of Lydyett and Townfield Lanes.

In 2005, the memorial hall was to be demolished. War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £250 towards work to remove the plaque from the wall, clean with water and soft bristle brushes, re-gild the lettering and refit the stone plaque into a new plinth. The new plinth, of Tuscan Red brick, stands close to the original site.
