Kingston war memorial is located near the south gate of the churchyard of St James the Less church. The memorial is made of granite and formed of a two stepped octagonal base surmounted by a roughhewn plinth and Latin cross. The inscriptions are painted lead lettering and commemorate the fallen soldiers from the First World War, the Second World War and the Malayan Emergency. The Church of St James the Less is listed Grade II*.
In 2014, War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £355 towards cleaning the memorial and re-painting the lettering. The memorial was steam cleaned and the lettering was re-painted using black enamel paint. These works were required to improve the legibility of the inscriptions.
Kingston war memorial was dedicated on 20th November 1921 by Admiral Sir Lewis Bayly to the men of the village who fell in the Great War. The names of the seven men who died in the Second World War were added in 1995.
The inscriptions read:
