Cameronians Scottish Rifles war memorial © WMT, 2014 In 2014 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £2,090 for repair, conservation and access work. Accessibility to the memorial was being affected due to the poor condition of the existing path and the lack of a handrail at the stepped entrance to the memorial. In addition soiling on the memorial was causing staining and holding water onto the surface of the stone. To address these issues work was undertaken to install a discrete handrail to the side of the stepped entrance to aid access to the memorial. The defective access path was relayed and the memorial stone plinth and steps were cleaned.

The memorial was erected in 1924 . The sculptor Lindsey Clark (1889 – 1977) was a captain in the Cameronians who had been awarded a DSO for bravery. The original inscription on the monument was later updated to incorporate the fallen from the Second World War.
