The Colne war memorial is in the form of a roofed Portland stone colonnade with open front and back and four square Doric columns at the centre. The floor of the colonnade is a black and white marble patterned floor. The memorial has mounted tablets with dedication and names on the enclosed interior side walls of those who fell in World War I. In the centre of the memorial is a stone with bronze plaques affixed commemorating the fallen of World War II.
An application to the Grants for War Memorials Scheme was received in 2011 and an offer of £3,915 was made. The project was to remove the split asphalt roof covering and relay, to remove ferrous cramps within the stone work which were causing damage and replace, to undertake stone repairs and re]pointing. There was also some dark staining to the internal marble floor of the memorial which it was proposed to remove. Unfortunately it was not possible to identify an appropriate solution for addressing this staining and therefore this was not removed.
The architect of the memorial was T. H. Hartley and the memorial was unveiled in November 1930.
