This war memorial consists of a Wheel cross and tapering column with a sword of sacrifice in relief. The plinth carries the names of the fallen from the Parish during World War I and World War II. The entire memorial is constructed of rough-hewn granite. The memorial stands on the village green Buckland, Surrey.
In 2013 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £410 towards the conservation of the war memorial. These works included cleaning the memorial using non-metallic bristle brushes and water, removal of remaining paint fragments from the lead lettering using a cloth and water, re-pointing
joints using lime mortar and re-painting lettering using a black enamel paint. SmartWater solution was applied to the lead letters as part of the InMemoriam2014 project which offers SmartWater free of charge to war memorial custodians where metal elements exist on the war memorial.
The memorial was dedicated on Sunday 11th July 1920 and was unveiled by Colonel Sir Percival Marling V C, C B. It was blessed by the Right Reverend Lord Bishop of Sheffield. On 9th November 1947 the Memorial was rededicated by the then Rector after the addition of the 13 names from the Second World War. The memorial was constructed and created by Ebutts of Croydon.
